Golden Road Vineyards

Five acres of vines on a twenty-five acre farm in the Yadkin Valley, owned by Chad and Crista Guebert since 2017. They are friends of mine and Stave's first client. Their site went live on 27 August 2026 and runs the tasting room, the wines, the club, private events, and two cottages.

Who is Golden Road?

Chad and Crista Guebert bought the vineyard in the summer of 2017 and moved down from Northern Virginia. Both still work as healthcare IT consultants. The tasting room opened on Black Friday 2020, and the wines have since picked up recognition in competitions around North Carolina.

Their line is “Wine Without Winesplaining,” and they mean it. Walk-ins on a Saturday, live music, sunsets, no script. That attitude set the brief: the site had to be as unpretentious as the tasting room.

What the site had to carry

Golden Road is more than a tasting room. There is the wine list, a club with four releases a year, private events on the lawn, and two short-term cottages a few steps from the door. All of it needed to live in one place that two people with day jobs could keep current.

The build covers all of it on the Stave platform, so a club release, a cottage booking, and a Saturday hours change are edits rather than developer tickets.

01  What the site does

Tasting room front and centre

Hours (Friday 2–7, Saturday 12–8:30, Sunday 12–6, weekdays by appointment) and the drive to 119 Wine Way sit on the first screen, where visitors actually look for them.

The wines, in plain text

One wines page covering the varietals growing on the farm and what they become, written as readable HTML rather than a PDF, so search engines and AI assistants can quote it.

Wine Lovers Club

Sign-ups, four releases a year, the complimentary glass at pickup and the release party on the lawn, all managed from the same admin as the rest of the site.

Shop that ships

Bottle sales wired to payments and fulfilment, offering wine only where compliance allows.

Events and Wine Way Cottages

Live music and private bookings for birthdays, showers, reunions and small weddings, plus the two cottages the Gueberts opened in 2024.

Findable

Structured data for the winery, its wines, hours and events, so an assistant answering “wineries near Elkin” has something accurate to quote.

02  Sixteen years on the same farm

2010

The twenty-five acre site is bought in March.

2011

Five acres planted: Merlot, Petit Manseng, Petit Verdot, Tannat and Traminette.

2013

First harvests go to other local wineries.

2017

Chad and Crista buy the vineyard that summer.

2020

The tasting room opens on Black Friday and GRV wines reach the public.

2024

Wine Way Cottages open, two short-term stays by the tasting room.

2026

The outdoor seating becomes the Golden Road Courtyard, and the new site launches in August.

FAQ  About this project

Who is Golden Road Vineyards?

A winery at 119 Wine Way, State Road, North Carolina, in the Yadkin Valley. Chad and Crista Guebert own it, five acres of the twenty-five acre farm are under vine, and the tasting room is open Friday through Sunday with weekdays by appointment.

What did Stave build?

The whole site and the system under it: tasting room and visit pages, the wines page, the shop, the Wine Lovers Club, events, and booking for Wine Way Cottages. It launched on 27 August 2026.

Can I see it?

Yes. It is live at grvwines.com, including the wines page, the club and the cottages.

Who maintains it now?

Chad and Crista run the content themselves in the Stave admin: wines, products, events, hours, cottage availability and club releases. My side is the code and the platform underneath, kept current month to month.

Golden Road got the system its tasting room needed. The next build starts the same way, with how your place actually runs.
